Debra M. Eldredge, DVM

Deb is a graduate of Cornell University’s New York State College of Veterinary Medicine and was the first recipient of their Gentle Doctor Award. She has been in private practice, primarily small animals, but has also done some exotic work, covering for the Utica Zoo. Dr. Eldredge also spent two years as the veterinarian for the award winning Humane Society of Huron Valley in Ann Arbor, Michigan. She currently lives in upstate NY on a small farm with horses, donkeys, sheep, 1 goat, 1 cat, 14 ducks and 6 dogs! She is an award-winning writer with multiple awards from the Dog Writers Association of America (DWAA) and the Cat Writers Association (CWA). She has participated in almost all dog sports and is an instructor for the Syracuse Obedience Training Club. Dr. Eldredge is active in multiple dog breed clubs, both on a local and national scale.

Cancer and Your Pet, co-authored with Margaret Bonham, did the same. Everything Dog Health Book with Kim Thornton was a finalist in DWAA as well. With her daughter Kate as co-author, she won a Maxwell for Head of the Class. Another Maxwell came for the Performance column in the Corgi Cryer, coauthored with Deb DeVona. She has written Pembroke Welsh Corgi (2nd edition) in the Happy, Healthy Pet series for Wiley/Howell, as well as updated editions of both the Dog Owner’s Home Veterinary Handbook and the Cat Owner’s Home Veterinary Handbook. The updated cat version won a Muse Medallion and also the special Hartz Vitamin Award from the CWA.
